Note from the NW Region Board

All regional events for the remainder of the year are being planned to shift to virtual formats as necessary. Congratulations to the YOU regional officers and the Consultant Nick Muncie-Jarvis for shifting the April rally to an online experience. It was a great success!

While we envision and affirm that the corona virus curve will flatten, with so much uncertainty, we felt it best to focus our efforts on alternate ways to connect this summer. The safety of our youth is our first priority. New connections are being invented, so stay tuned for more.

If you are a youth director, Uniteen or YOU sponsor, or you have kids in your ministry and are not getting updates about what's happening, please reply to this email and your information will be forward to the right person.

Online Kids Camp 2020
"Spread Your Wings and Take Flight"
June 21st-24th

Our 41st Annual Northwest Region Kids Camp experience will be online! We will use Flipgrid for all our camp activities. Flipgrid is a secure online learning platform, which will allow the campers to watch videos of the counselors presenting funshops, crafts, vespers, etc. and to record a video in which the can share about their experience. These interactions will enable the campers and counselors to create a sense of community and connection. Programming elements will be prerecorded, so that campers can participate at a time that works best for them and their families. Registration information for this event will be available in May.

Online Unitreat Being Planned

We are planning a virtual Unitreat! We don't have dates yet, but it will be shorter than our onsite week would have been. Our Zoom planning meeting is May 9th. We welcome all Uniteen sponsors/teachers to join us.

The Y.O.U. Virtual Rally was a Success!

April 17th-19th our Region hosted a wonderful virtual Rally for our YOU'ers (9th-12th graders).

The theme was "Encompassing Your Truth" and we had 31 people participate from 9 Unity centers. The event was hosted on Zoom and it was a great success! The YOU Regional Officers, Antheny Chhay (Eugene) and Danika Buck (Spokane USC), put together a great program full of opportunities to connect and share. They presented workshops on creating sacred space, vulnerability and forgiveness, and creating transformative affirmations. Additionally, there were family group meetings, the Spirit Share talent show, evening vespers, and a Dance/Vibe Session. During the annual business meeting the YOU elected Cody Little-Reece from Unity of Portland as their 2020-2021 Regional Officer.

This was an uplifting experience for everyone and a much needed opportunity to connect and share--to see and be seen. Even though the virtual hugs don't measure up to the real thing, everyone was grateful for the opportunity to gather as a community.

Resources for You During this Challenging Time

Dear Friends,

We know that not all of our ministries have the resources, technical, time, or financial, to launch online ministry. In an effort to support each other, we have created a page that lists the various services and meetings happening at Unity communities across the region. Please you'll let us know if you have things you'd like to add. https://www.unitynwregion.org/resources-during-covid-19

We know that right now connection with our community is important, so one way you could use this list is invite your group to watch a particular service and then have a video or telephone conference fellowship time following.

Rachel Simpson, Board Chair, is available if you need some tech support or prayer support, please reach out nwunitychair@gmail.com to schedule.

Rachel and other Unity ministers are also offering daily meditations:

We are here for and with you.

The Butterfly Effect is the concept that the flap of a butterfly's wing in Brazil can affect weather patterns around the world. If this is true, then every single action we take to benefit the Earth has a cumulative effect. Each prayer, refusal to accept single-use plastic, and each piece of garbage we pick up makes a difference. Take one action each day and be the butterfly effect for the healing of our Earth.

The EarthCare program exists to help your congregation grow and thrive by fostering awareness of our spiritual oneness with our Earth home and promoting active care of creation.
